The outside of the wheel has the ‘Om Mani Padme Hum’ mantra engraved all-around. The same Buddhist mantra is written on a roll of paper, which is kept inside each wheel. The paper roll rotates with each rotation of the wheel. It is thought that each revolution of the wheel activates, in a manner akin to an actual recitation, the prayer inside. In simple terms, Om Mani Padme Hum is a prayer for compassion and for the happiness of all living beings. The prayer wheel is beneficial for chakra cleansing.
